These are real leaves that have been processed to dissolve the skin while exposing the tough, natural, cellulose fiber underneath. I treat the skeletons to last indefinitely. The Art of skeletonizing leaves was practiced hundreds of years ago through a maceration process. Skeleton leaves can also occur naturally under the right conditions. Typically, they are much more coarse and fragile as a result.
