The Antique Art of Phantom Leaves!

These are real leaves that have been processed to remove the skin while exposing the tough, natural, cellulose fiber underneath. I treat the skeletons  to last indefinitely. They are much stronger and flexible than they appear. What's left is cellulose, a tough, natural plant fiber. Check out the Cool links tab to learn more about the amazing fiber cellulose!

The  Art of skeletonizing leaves was practiced hundreds of years ago through a maceration process. Skeleton leaves can also occur naturally under the right conditions. Typically, they are much more coarse and fragile as a result.

Modern Technology has dramatically improved upon the process. A technique that is similar to plasma etching (utilized in semiconductor manufacture) will expose the fiber to be preserved indefinitely!!
